Escape from the Obesity Trap

Front Cover

Wow.. another Zone Diet convert...

The constant fight between insulin and glucagon ( both secreted in the pancreas )..

When blood sugar increases to more than 5 mmol/L ( through a carbo rich diet ), insulin is secreted to mop up the excess blood glucose and store it in form of glycogen in muscles and liver . When the strage depots are full, it is turned into triglicerides and stored in the adipose cells as fat. Eat excess carbo, fats is sored eventually.

But when it falls to below 4 mmol/L, glucagon is secreted to instruct the liver to release stored fat to be turned into blood glucose so tahta stable level of blood glucose is maintained.

So to lose fat, we need to trick our body into releasing more glucagon, and less insulin. This can be done by controlling the level of carbo and protein in our diet...with a bias towards more protein to induce secretion of glucagon.

As fat is burned throughout the day under low carbo diet, we will notexperience the sugar spikes...and our energy level will remain constant for at least 4 hours since the last protein balanced meal.

Wow... coupled with regular exercise ( use the 8sec/12 sec regime) of at least 20min , 3x a week... and adequate sleep of at least 7-8 hours per night, surely everybody can look like Aaron Kwok who just turned 50 this year! Look at the "chocolate bars" in his abs.... wow!
